Pumpkin Time

Posted on

With a rainy Friday on the mountain comes a day of painting, pumpkin carving and movie watching.  It was so nice to be with the family and just hang out at the house. Lilly and I worked on one pumpkin while Wil worked on the other.  Not much into touching the guts of the pumpkin, Lilly was okay scooping out some seeds but had no problem directing me on what shapes to make the pumpkins eyes and nose and whether it should be happy or sad.

We are also potty training like crazy!  No more diapers until nap and bed time around here.  That’s the goal anyways.  So far just a few accidents here and there but not too shabby.

We are looking forward to Halloween and getting candy!

Cause and Effect

Willow is growing like a weed!  She isn’t quite two months yet and she is already wearing the three month outfits that Lilly fit into at around 4 months.  I think my girls are going to be opposites which seems to happen quite a lot with siblings.  After sleeping a 7 hour stretch last night (!) and making it through a day of shopping with me yesterday, I am stating that this baby is wonderful.

One of the things I like to watch her do is figure out the play mat.  It has a kick feature that if she kicks it just the right way, it will play a song and light up.  Well, she has already figured it out and it provides some entertainment when mommy is trying to get some time for herself.

Little Pumpkins

This past Friday, Lilly and I spent some QT together going on the class field trip to Guthrie’s Pumpkin Patch.  The weather was perfect and it was fun to be with Lilly as she saw her classmates and picked out a pumpkin from the patch.

As Lilly and I bonded, Wil and Willow bonded to as they stayed home watching TV and hanging out together.  It is amazing how relaxed we are with Willow compared to how we worried and fretted over so many little things with Lilly.

The next day brought on a day of errand running and as a treat for being so good at the stores, Lilly picked out a little girls makeup kit.  Well, I knew it would be somewhat messy and she would want to put it all on at once but when she accidentally put nail polish on her lips, eye shadow on her cheeks and convinced Wil to let her put eye shadow on his eyes, I knew it had crossed some sort of line and the kit now sits on a very high shelf waiting to be forgotten about.

It looks more like she got into a bad fight then what the kit promised, “Very Own Princess.”  Oh well.

Welcome Willow

With our newest and smallest addition, I decided to start an entirely new blog dedicated to all of the family so that I might share stories and pictures about everyone as we grow and learn about each other.  The goal is to update at least once a week with quotes and pictures.

If you don’t already know, this is Willow Grace Keith (a.k.a. Willer, Willow Willow, and the baby).  She was born on September 4th, 2011.  Willow is such a great baby.  She doesn’t sleep all that much during the day but she is awesome at night and happy unless she is sleepy, poopy, or hungry (aren’t we all).  People say she looks more like her mama then her papa.

This is Lillian Roane Keith (a.k.a. Lilly, Lilly Beans, Lilly Pants, Crazy Head and big sister).  She was born on March 8th, 2009.  Lilly has taken the roll of big sister and done great with it so far.  She loves Willow so much and imitates me when I try to make Willow smile or put her to sleep and she always wants to hold her hand or show her things.  Being a classic two year old has its trials and sometimes, being a new sister and having to share can be tough on the ol’ tear ducts but things are better and better each day.  Lilly likes Mickey Mouse, Elmo, strawberries, stickers, singing and dancing with a move she has perfected that we call the “peg leg.”

The goal is to have the girls share a room and even a bed at some point but for now, we are working on not waking Willow when she is sleeping which is not going so well.  Sometimes Lilly has one volume and it isn’t quiet.

This is William J. Keith (a.k.a. Wil, Wilamina, Father Wil, and Papa).  He was also born on September 4th but a much different year.   This past Sunday, Lilly  announced at church as Wil started to bless the sacraments:  “That’s my Papa up there!”  which brought smiles and laughter from the people around us and a huge grin on Papa’s face from the alter. Wil likes motorcycles, Jesus, working with his tools, a good scotch now and then, and being a papa.

Also in the photo is me, Amanda T. Keith (a.k.a. Miss Manders, Boopers, and Mommy).  I was also born on March 8th, like so many of my lovely and talented family members.  I am currently a stay at home mamacita which I am loving for now.  I like taking walks, sleeping, chocolate, shopping, and being a mom.

So here we go, party of four with a dog named Sylus who is so good with Lilly and Willow…passively protecting them and sadly knowing that he is the bottom of the totem pole.
